What Is Power Take-Off And Why Is It Important To Track?
By Radjen Ramdin
PTO explained
PTO or power take-off is any of several methods used in accessory vehicles for sending power from the power source to an accessory. Crane trucks, pump trucks, and container trucks are good examples. When activating the crane on a crane truck the driver essentially needs to reroute the power of the engine from the wheels to the accessory.
Why do you need to monitor PTO?
Drivers get approached and solicited during working hours to do quick side jobs which most of the time happen at the cost of the company.
Moonlighting is when company vehicles are being used for private side jobs during non-working hours. All types of private use of company equipment are misuse and revenue loss for your company.
How our solution works
Our solution offers accessory switch monitoring for mid-heavy equipment trucks such as vacuum trucks and container trucks. The fleet manager can see accurate data of each time the PTO or accessory was used.
The fleet manager can also generate an accessory switch report which can be used for instance in cases where he needs to provide customers with proof for invoicing.
Dijk Transport uses our PTO monitoring integration, see how they improve deployment of vehicles and manpower by 30%.
