JICN is a vital arm of justice within Bonaire. On behalf of the Minister of Justice and Security, JICN is tasked with executing custodial sentences and measures imposed by court rulings.

Located in Bonaire, JICN serves as both a detention center and prison, housing up to 113 individuals, including men, women, juveniles, and foreign detainees.

Their mission extends beyond detention, it emphasizes rehabilitation, reintegration, and reducing recidivism through strong collaborations with chain partners such as police, probation services, and addiction care organizations.

In fulfilling its core responsibilities, JICN also manages a dedicated transport department responsible for daily high-risk prisoner transfers across the region.

For this success story, we got to speak with Mr. Emerenciana, the Head of the Security Department, and Mr. Soliana, the Security Team Leader.
