Survey: 42% Take Work-Related Calls, Texts, or Emails While Driving

2022 US Travelers Risk Index on distracted driving, a survey by The Travelers Companies Inc. reveals work-related pressures may contribute to distracted driving.

While one-third of the respondents say their own driving behavior has improved over the last years, 42% admitted to making phone calls and reading text messages while driving.

The survey results suggest that work-related pressure might lead to risky driving behavior. Almost every manager in the survey, 86% (!), expects employees to respond to work-related communications at least sometimes while outside the office during work hours. Even one-third of business managers expect employees to answer work calls while driving!
